“Art takes nature as its model.” ~ Aristotle
meet the person behind the wheel
Camille, like a lot of people, took it in school but the stars at the time didn’t align. She started up with pottery again back in 2020 by taking a local class to refresh the inspiration and love for the craft. Camille quickly jumped into the deep end, head first, and started up her business, Humla Pottery.
Pottery texture plays a crucial role in the visual and tactile experience of ceramic art. The surface can range from smooth and glossy to rough and uneven, influencing how light interacts with each piece and how it feels in the hand. Techniques such as carving, stamping, and applying slips allows Camille to create intricate patterns and layers, adding depth to the pottery. Textured surfaces can evoke a sense of nature, with organic shapes resembling tree bark or rippling water, while more modern approaches may introduce geometric designs or minimalistic finishes. Each texture tells a story, revealing the hand of the maker and the material's journey from clay to finished work.

Well, to be honest, Im asking the same question! lol
In the summer I will be moving out of the country and that’s going to shake things up for awhile.
with the move happening, Im hoping to find a new pottery space to work in and get back to it as soon as I can.
I’ve also been thinking about a little rebrand. mostly just a new name and such to refresh everything.
In the mean time, Im trying to broaden my skill set and get back into illustration and sewing. So stay tuned for more work!
